Indigenous Health Care

Acknowledgment and Commitment to Indigenous Healthcare

The Townsville GP Superclinic respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of this land, the Wulgurukaba of Gurambilbarra and Yunbenun, Bindal, Gugu Badhun, and Nywaigi peoples. We honour their cultures, ancestors, Elders—past, present, and emerging—and recognize future generations.

We proudly support our Indigenous community with access to affordable, high-quality healthcare and are committed to the government’s efforts to improve Indigenous health outcomes. Through programs funded by the Australian Government, including Medicare, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), and Medicare Australia’s Practice Incentive Program, we offer:

Preventative Health Assessments: Free every 9 months for anyone identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, with a valid Medicare card.

Chronic Disease & Mental Health Care Programs: Free chronic disease and mental health care support, with a Medicare card, to eligible patients.

Continuity of Care: Indigenous patients are encouraged to establish a relationship with a regular GP or medical practice.

PBS Co-payment Measure: Low-cost or free medications through the Closing the Gap (CTG) Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for eligible individuals.

Our programs aim to support early detection of health issues and improve long-term outcomes for those with chronic conditions. For more information on our Indigenous Health Program, please contact us.
